(A day late…)
Thursday, January 5th
Welp, I have finally arrived safe and sound in Derry, Northern Ireland!! It was a LONG trip to get here - we were up for a day and a half by the time we actually got to hit the sheets, which was quite intense haha. Today was our first day of “class” where we met in the conference room at our quite ritzy hotel called the Tower Hotel. We will be meeting for about 4 hours a day between today and next Wednesday (minus the weekend of course) and then after 1pm we get the afternoons free. Today after class we went to an information center here in Derry and planned out some trips we’re hoping to do, after which we went to the Tower Museum and learned about the origins of Derry. We then hit up a grocery store called “Supervalu” and stocked up with snacks for the next day or two. Later we’re going to dinner and then the pubs to get some pints and listen to some traditional Irish music :] I think this weekend we’re planning on taking a trip to the coast and hitting up Giant’s Causeway and the surrounding area. We also found a super sweet hike (they call it a “walk” in Ireland) up by the Causeway that I think we will do as well. I’m so stoked to be here and am really excited for the rest of my month here!!
